DxO Optics Pro NEWS (D300, Mac version, 40D, D3, 1DsMKIII)

This announcement provides information on:

  • Support for the Nikon D300
  • More lens support for the Canon EOS 40D
  • Upcoming support for Nikon D3 and Canon EOS 1Ds MKIII
  • Next version of DxO Optics Pro (v5.0.4)
  • News regarding DxO Optics Pro v5 for Macintosh

SUPPORT FOR THE NIKON D300

We are pleased to announce that as of today, we are starting the support of the Nikon D300 in DxO Optics Pro v5.0.3b (build 6569).
All of DxO Optics Pro’s advanced image processing features are available for images captured by the Nikon D300 in JPEG or RAW. In particular:

  • High-quality RAW Conversion (including version 5’s new demosaicing technology)
  • Color rendering and color options as well as DxO FilmPack if installed.
  • Noise reduction (including version 5’s new Noise reduction algorithms)
  • Exposure and dynamic range optimization (DxO Lighting)
  • Perspective and horizon adjustment
  • Additionally, all of DxO Optics Pro’s optical corrections are immediately available for the following lenses in combination with the Nikon D300:
    • AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED
    • AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
    • AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED
    • AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED
    • AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY A FIRST SET OF LENSES THAT WE ARE SUPPORTING WITH THE NIKON D300.
WE ARE PLANNING TO QUICKLY EXPAND THIS LIST.
WE ARE PLANNING SUPPORT OF ALMOST ONE DOZEN MORE LENSES EARLY IN FEBRUARY (list at the end of this post).

The Nikon D300 is supported by both the Standard and the Elite versions of DxO Optics Pro v5. If you are a current user of DxO Optics Pro v5 and wish to add support for the Nikon D300, you will need to redownload the entire application (free upgrade) from your user account on https://shop.dxo.com.
The next lenses we plan to support (in February) for the Nikon D300 include:

  • AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D
  • AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

  • AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED
  • AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED
  • AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED
  • AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED
  • Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM

MORE LENS SUPPORT FOR THE CANON EOS 40D

We are also releasing today support for 4 more lenses paired up with the Canon EOS 40D:

  • Canon EF70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM
  • Canon EF70-200mm f/2.8L USM
  • Canon EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
  • Canon EF70-200mm f/4L IS USM

This brings the total of supported lenses for the Canon EOS 40D to 19.

SUPPORT FOR NIKON D3 AND CANON EOS 1DS MKIII

Work on supporting these two cameras with initial sets of lenses is now well under way. We anticipate releasing support for these two pro-level DSLRs in the February 7 to February 12 timeframe. These two DSLRs will be supported by DxO Optics Pro v5 Elite only.

NEXT VERSION OF DXO OPTICS PRO (v5.0.4)

Version 5.0.4 of DxO Optics Pro for Windows is planned to be released at the same time that we release support for the Nikon D3 and Canon EOS 1Ds MKIII (see above). DxO Optics Pro v5.0.4 will provide a number of functional and stability enhancement to version 5.0.3. DxO Optics Pro v5.0.4 may also provide some speed improvements depending on the progress of current developments.

DXO OPTICS PRO FOR MACINTOSH

Our current plans are to release a public-Beta of DxO Optics Pro v5 for Macintosh on our website in the second half of February (the current schedule is for February 20th but this can still change). The public-beta will allow Macintosh users to experience the advances of version 5 (new RAW conversion, new Noise reduction, dust & blemish removal, new interface, etc…). The public beta will also support the Canon 40D, Nikon D300 and we are hoping the Nikon D3 cameras. Beyond providing a preview of the final version 5 for Macintosh, the public Beta will also allow us to gather a large amount of end-user feedback before the final release. The final release date of DxO Optics Pro v5 for Macintosh will depend on the outcome of the public-beta program but is currently anticipated to be in early spring 2008.
Of course, our free upgrade policy remains in place for Macintosh users during the final development of DxO Optics Pro v5 for Macintosh. Any DxO Optics Pro v4 purchased after July 31st 2007 is entitled to a free upgrade to version 5.
