Recovering clipped highlights
A common problem in digital photography is clipped highlights, which occurs when pixels have maximum values in one or more of the color channels (red, green or blue). Provided that only one channel is clipped, the software DxO Highlight Recovery feature can restore lost tonal information when working with RAW images by analyzing the ratio of R, G and B colors in adjacent unclipped pixels and making local gamma adjustments to assign new values to the affected area. The result is that natural-looking highlight detail can be retrieved from overexposed areas.
