List of DxO Presets

The table below lists the presets available in DxO Optics Pro. Each automatic setting is illustrated by paired photographs that demonstrate its effects.

Default DxO Preset (comprehensive)	Standard DxO processing with colors as rendered by your camera (factory settings for RAW). Processing includes all optical corrections if the DxO correction module is present (distortion, vignetting, lens softness, and chromatic aberrations), along with DxO Lighting and denoising. This DxO Preset is appropriate for most of your photos if you prefer your camera’s default color rendering, which usually delivers highly saturated colors.
General - Natural colors (RAW only) (specialized)	This DxO Preset delivers the best match of a scene’s true colors for a more natural look. Fits most of your RAW photos if you prefer more natural color rendering.	Photo: Philippe Tarbouriech
General - Realistic color variation 1, 2, et 3 (RAW only) (specialized)	These DxO presets provide three additional colorimetry choices, based on realistic colors, that you can apply according to your own color tastes.
Highlight recovery - slight (RAW only) (specialized)	Recovers details within burnt areas and keeps overall contrast well balanced. Fits any scene with a very high dynamic range and burnt areas in parts of the image containing compelling details (cloudy skies, snowy fields, a lacy wedding dress, candles and open fires, etc.).
Highlight recovery - medium (RAW only) (specialized)	Recovers even more details within burnt areas while keeping the overall contrast well balanced. Fits any scene with a very high dynamic range and burnt areas in parts of the image containing compelling details (cloudy skiess, snowy fields, a lacy wedding dress, candles and open fires, etc.).
Highlight recovery - strong (RAW only) (specialized)	Recovers all available details within burnt areas and keeps overall contrast well balanced. Fits any scene with a very high dynamic range and burnt areas in parts of the image containing compelling details (cloudy skies, snowy fields, a lacy wedding dress, candles and open fires, etc.).

General - vivid colors (specialized)	A “creative” DxO Preset that produces vivid colors and sharply-marked contrasts. Perfect for landscapes, still-lifes, architecture, and nature photography when you prefer high contrast and saturated colors.	Photo: Stephane Laveau
General - aged photo (specialized)	A “creative” preset that lets you reproduce the exaggerated colors of an old-style postcard.
General - black and white (specialized)	A black and white rendition that adapts to image content to produce optimal contrast.
General - negative colors (specialized)	Inverts photo colors to give your photos a “film negative” look. For all photos, when you wish to obtain a creative effect.
Landscape – postcard (specialized)	Increases color saturation and contrast. Boosts edges and colors to give your landscape and travel photos that professional “postcard” look.	Photo: Jean-marie Sépulchre
Landscape – lowkey (specialized)	Reduces the general exposure level while increasing overall contrast. Very effective with urban landscapes, industrial buildings, and nature photos with a “tortured” aspect.
Landscape – highkey (specialized)	Drastically reduces the density of a photo while preserving details and highlights. Useful for misty landscapes, seascapes in morning fog, romantic portraits, etc.
Keep fine noise grain (RAW only) (specialized)	A preset for preserving fine grain in an image shot in RAW at high ISO.	Photo: Jean-marie Sépulchre
Anti color alias (RAW only) (specialized)	Eliminates moiré (spurious color fringing or mosaic visible in the details of objects with repetitive structures). Very appropriate for shots of clothing with regular patterns and for all other objects with very fine, regular structures. Also perfect for photos of hair, fur, or feathers.	Photo: John Walker
High ISO - noise reduction (specialized)	Obtains the best trade-off between denoising, detail sharpness, and deep shadows. Suitable for any photo shot in low light or at high speeds, or both, such as photos taken night or taken indoors without flash.
Sharpen fine details (specialized)	For use with an appropriate DxO optical module: a useful preset to augment the sharpness of all image details.
Group portrait - restore face proportions (specialized)	Restores facial proportions that are distorted when not centered in the photo. For group photos (showing many faces) shot with a wide-angle lens.	Photo: Jean Luc Dubin

Maximize field of view (specialized)	For use with an appropriate DxO optical module: a useful preset to recover information lost at the edges of images with strong distortion.
No correction (comprehensive)	All DxO correction engines disabled. Applied to a RAW image, this setting converts the image using the settings designed for the camera. Use with all images that you prefer to correct or improve manually

The different types of DxO Presets

Each DxO Preset describes the effect it will have on an image when processed.

Most DxO Presets can be used with either JPEG or RAW formats.
However, certain DxO Presets affect only RAW images, and these are indicated as “RAW only” in the DxO Preset namespace.
There are two basic categories of DxO Preset, comprehensive and specialized:

• A “comprehensive” preset corrects for all image parameters—that is, if you apply this kind of DxO preset, all previous settings will be ignored.
• A “specialized” preset deals only with specified attributes or parameters. For example, the “General – vivid colors” preset leaves all other settings (optical corrections, denoising, sharpness, etc.) unchanged, and affects only color saturation.
